I have been trying to learn how to use this internet thingy. It is amazing, simply amazing that these words have a possibility of being read by the guy down the street! But, what is most amazing is that I have a webpage. You may think, “who gives a flying frog!” I do, because I didn’t know I had a webpage. I had no idea.
For all of you who don’t know, I rent apartments in Boston, MA. One day I got a lead…from my webpage….what webpage, thought I to myself…oh this one. How did that happen? As it turns out, I still don’t know. It must be through a partnership between Preview Properties and You Got Listings.
So now, I am knee deep in learning about meta-whats, like buttons, and twizzle-feeds. I have been trying to learn how to link ads, facebookers, and whatzits for quite some, spiraling out of control in a world of ego-centrists, spammers, and celebrity gossipers.
Essentially, what I am trying to say is that I am no Thomas Suarez, but I am trying to figure it out. If anyone out there is like Thomas Suarez, go ahead and give me some tips. If anyone thinks I am just rambling on….you are correct. Just click the like button…

Great advice for any apartment search!
CALIFORNIA had carmaggedon. A one time traffic-jam, not going anywhere day of hell. Sounds pretty nice compared to Boston’s September first. Much like the salmon migration up the Columbia River, or the march of the penguins, Boston’s yearly tenant migration is quickly approaching.
The only thing worse than being stuck in the perpetual traffic jam, being constantly at risk for being mowed down by multiple moving vans, and climbing over mounds of possibly bedbug ridden furniture to get to your door, is having to do all of this and move into an apartment that resembles Gollum’s cave.
For those of you that have not yet locked down your apartment (especially, out of towners) there are a few things you should know:
- September first, for most parts of town, is the largest moving day of the year.
- Good apartments don’t hang around.
- Making an offer is your best bet at getting a deal.
MAKING AN OFFER: what is it? what is included?
- The offer made to the landlord is an application, one month’s rent, and the terms of acceptance. The application contains your name, references, and employment and rental history.
- One month’s rent is for the landlord. If accepts your offer, he gets the money and it goes towards your first month’s rent. If you back out after being accepted, the landlord can keep that money for damages. If he rejects your offer, your money should be refunded back to you, or put towards another offer.
- The terms what is due to move in, length of occupancy, and address. Usually, a combination or all of the following are required: first month, last month, security, fee…..(to be continued)
Second run of the New Year– 3 mile loop from my apt. to St. Paul st., to Beacon st., to Harvard ave., and back home (+ plus a short run with Gus so he could do his bussiness and stretch his legs a bit). I feel it went quick, but I definately lost some steam across from the movie theater at Coolige Corner. Double breaths helped unstitch my side. Forgot to time it though. Also, I think the scale said I was 170. Better recheck that….147lbs. Losing weight! Hope the pint of ice cream replenishes me…and the bottomless pot of beef stew I made.
Other news…I’ll start working at Preview Properties this week and I’m skiing this weekend.

Thanks WordPress! I’ll take it from here. This is pretty much a blog about my running progression for this year; however, there maybe rants, thoughts, and musing on other topics–equal housing, dunkin donuts, gus, life (generally or philosophically), etc…Mostly, there will be info on my running–time, distance, where, when. Ultimately, the goal is to run 200 days this year. The runs must be at least 2.5 miles or 25 minutes to count.

Grabbed the dog and ran another mile.
not too bad.
Side note: I am also keeping track of my weight. I was 155 when I left Ukraine. After aerating lawns at the end of summer and having no food money, I fell to 138. Now I am at 149 after eating loads of Christmas cookies and drinking gallons of Christmas beer. I am currently taking diet suggestions for skinny people to keep on pounds.
